Why was U.S. Directory of Latina-Owned Businesses created?

The U.S. Directory of Latina-Owned Businesses was designed to help Internet shoppers easily identify and link directly to businesses within the rapidly growing number of companies owned by Latina entrepreneurs and professionals in the United States and Puerto Rico. We want to facilitate your doing business with these Latina entrepreneurs, you can even locate them directly via the map locator provided.

How does the Directory help buyers?

Buyers visiting the online Directory will be able to quickly locate Latina owned businesses or organizations in their community, City, State, Region, or throughout the United States. Businesses can be identified by Business category, Product/Service, Company or Organization name, Street address, City, State or Zip Code

How do Latina business owners and professionals benefit by part of the Directory?

Latina business owners or professionals listed in the Online Directory will have a cost effective Internet presence. They will also have a new marketing tool that will help attract new clients to their business. Additionally, they can use the Online Directory to identify new Latina suppliers for their business.

Potential shoppers, clients and business associates will be connected to the listed firm’s business profile, which contains more detailed information on the business/organization, contact information, a link to their website, and a map to locate the business.

The Directory will be actively promoted throughout the Internet and off-line among private sector and government buyers. Firms listed in the Directory are encouraged to help promote its use.

Who can be listed in the Directory?

Latinas must own at least 50% of the company listed. Business must be located in the United States, Puerto Rico or the U.S. Virgin Islands. Non-profit Latina Organizations are those that primarily service the needs of Latinas at the local, State, or National level.

All company and organization websites listed in the Directory must comply with normal, legitimate business practices and not be offensive in any form or manner to website visitors. These provisions will be strictly enforced by the Hispanic Business Women’s Alliance, promoters and administrators of the U.S. Directory of Latina-Owned Businesses©.

How do Latina companies and organizations update their profile?

Businesses listed in the Online Directorycan easily update their business profile at any time by clicking the “Update Your Biz Profile” button on the Directory Home page and entering their User Name and Password.

What are the NAICS codes and why are they important?

Businesses are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS code), since this is the system that the government and the private sector (including Latina Marketplace) are now using to categorize all business establishments.
